Speaker: Dr. Leandro Rodrigues Alves Diniz
Holding a PhD in Linguistics from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp – Brazil), Leandro Rodrigues Alves Diniz is an associate professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG – Brazil), where he works specially in the field of Portuguese as an Additional Language (PAL). He was a Fulbright visiting scholar at the Ohio State University (OSU - USA) in 2019 and is currently a visiting professor at the Grenoble Alpes University (UGA – France). He was one of the coordinators of the PAL area at the project “More Doctors for Brazil” (Brazilian Ministries of Education and Health) from 2013 to 2018 and has been a member of the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners Committee (Celpe-Bras - Brazilian Ministry of Education) since 2012. His publications include theoretical articles, chapters and books, as well as textbooks for the teaching of Portuguese.

Introduction to film literacy and critical analysis strategies appropriate for Portuguese A Level and for the UG syllabus. Delivered in collaboration with the Research Group FLAME at Manchester Metropolitan University, with the support of the AHRC (OWRI Cross-language dynamics ) and the Film in Language Teaching Association (FILTA).
